Hike for the 4th

My first Blog! who'da thunk it? and why is anyone reading? The ultimate vanity...post your thoughts for all to see. Or maybe a quick way to convey info to lots of folks at once. HMmmmm.

Here's a photo of Jack doing his Kokopelli imitation.

And one of me, in which I'm looking scarily like my great-grandmother...Big Mama.

Jack and I hiked a bit on the 4th. We went north to Wyoming. I crossed paths with a rattle snake. We both backed up! (Me and the rattler.) Jack then advised me, from his spot on the rock 8 feet away, that it's better to 'back up slowly'. Yeah, right. Tell that to my adrenaline.

My lovely headgear was an impromptu creation to shade my ears and to thwart the pestky no see ums. I was mainly attempting to keep the little buzzers out of my ears...to no avail.

Three hours in the sun went pretty fast. At least I remembered the sunscreen if not the bug-off. An annual tradition is continued. (If you consider 2 years in a row to be a tradition.)
